Afterhours: a first look at the city

Neon, rain and a city built around player stories. Here is what we have been working on for the past months.

For the past months, a small part of the team has worked almost exclusively on Afterhours, our upcoming serious roleplay server. Today we want to share where the project stands and what makes it different.

A city that runs on decisions

Most roleplay servers are built around jobs: you clock in, repeat a loop and get paid. In Afterhours, businesses are owned and run by players. They set prices, hire employees and compete with each other — and the city reacts.

“We don’t want to write the story of the city. We want to build a place where a thousand stories can happen at once.”

What’s next

  • Closed technical tests with a small group from our Discord
  • The first public look at the character creator
  • An open beta once the economy is balanced
